 B.         Planning of Future and Ongoing District Public Outreach Efforts
 
1. Review on school education — discussion for date in Spring 2013
The committee discussed the idea of offering a spring 2013 school tour program. The dates discussed were after the STAR exams in mid-May. Tours will be offered for a one to two week period. The committee also discussed working on the facility tours to bring it down a notch to the 5th grade level and making sure the teachers have pre-information about what the students will be seeing to prepare better for the tour.

Also discussed the high school “Sewer in the Classroom” program and the possibility of offering a Jersey Island tour to go along with the corresponding Agriculture program at Freedom High School that just started this year.

Tom Williams will contact Eric Faulkner, principal of Freedom High School, to invite him on a tour and see what the high school needs area.

2. Review on Open House
Reviewed the Open House that took place in October. The committee spoke about offering possible future open houses in 2015, which will be the 70th Anniversary of the Sanitary District. Tours will continue to be available for organizations and schools who are interested in seeing the facility.

3. Newsletter discussion for December 2012
Discussed the Winter 2012 newsletter. The newsletter is scheduled to be completed the last week of December, so it can be used for advertisement for the Jan. 5 grease drop off day. The newsletter story ideas include: School tours (front page), Alternative energy update, Permit update, and grease day.

4.  ISD Main Street sign
Look up sign regulations and information about the larger sign to be placed on property behind maintenance building and lighted signs.
