of Future and Ongoing District Public Outreach Efforts
1. Summer Newsletter Update
Newsletter
printed and completed on time and delivered to homes before the Heart of Oakley
Festival. This was the annual six-page newsletter featuring information on the
Pollution Prevention Campaign. Newsletters will be distributed through the mail
and at the festival. For the six-page newsletter the printer would only print
15,000 copies. The mailer needed 11,500. Instead of separating by zip code as
usual, labels will need to be placed over the Oakley address with the Bethel
Island address.
2. Heart of Oakley Festival
Heart of Oakley
Festival is set for Sept. 13 in downtown Oakley. At this festival ISD will host
just one booth with information about the grease program, salt program and
wipes program.
Grease program: still putting grease soap out at events. Remind folks about
grease building and drop-off hours.
Salt program: make a basket cleaning ingredients with labels covered or
removed if possible. Add back label with list of ingredients highlighting salt
items.
Wipes program: Bring wipes in water containers and fliers with
information about not flushing wipes.
3. Recycled water report
Recycled water
workshop scheduled to invite the public to weigh in on recycled water efforts.
Second workshop at board meeting set up to speak more the topic to give board
members more information. Committee was asked to set up a list of 10 important
people to invite to the workshops.
4. Salt Campaign
Continuation on
discussion of salt campaign. Discussion continued on salt-based water softeners
and salt found in cleaning and personal products. Committee discussed further
promotions on the product.
5. Distinction Award Preparation
Committee discussed the work
being done with other committees and the board to complete the policy book so
that district can enter the award.
6. 70th Anniversary event 2015
Short
discussion updating the 70th anniversary event.
7. Bio-solids campaign
Discussion
on Bio-solid campaign and kicking off campaign with education articles in the
newsletter and developing a page on the website with information about
bio-solids.
