- Planning of Future and Ongoing District Public Outreach Efforts
1. SDLF Certification and Awards
Discussion: Committee discussed the Special
Districts Leadership Foundation (SDLF) Transparency Certificate of Excellence
and the District of Distinction Accreditation programs that ISD applied
for. The district already received the renewal of the Transparency
Certificate of Excellence and plans to have the certificate presented from a
SDLF representative at the June 6 Board meeting.
The committee also discussed the “Recognition
in Special District Governance” program. Districts that have a majority of their
governing board holding recognitions will receive a Silver Recognition, and
districts with their entire board holding recognition will receive a Gold
Recognition. District recognitions will be presented at a sponsoring
association’s annual conference.
Action: Committee asked to request
that all board members consider taking the SDLF’s “Recognition in Special
District Governance” program. Districts that have a majority of their governing
board holding recognitions will receive a Silver Recognition, and districts
with their entire board holding recognition will receive a Gold Recognition.
District recognitions will be presented at a sponsoring association’s annual
conference.
2. Oakley Cityhood Celebration information
review
Discussion: The district is hosting a booth at
the Oakley Cityhood Celebration on July 2, 2016. As a sponsor of the event the
district will receive free booth space and a banner on display at the event.
The committee discussed what displays would be used in the booth and what campaigns
would be displayed at the booth.
Action: The committee asked to have a request
for help from board members at the booth discussed at the June 2 board meeting.
3. Website Reveal coming
Discussion: Members of staff have been working
on a new website design. The committee members have the chance to get a first
look at the site. However, many of the new features of the site have not been
completed, but the general format was available.
Action: Committee made suggestions and gave
ideas to be presented to the design committee.
4. CWEA Award nominations
information
Discussion: The California Water Environmental
Agency will announce their upcoming award nomination for 2016 in July. The
committee discussed the upcoming award and what would be involved in applying
for any of the awards.
Action: No action was taken at this time.
Bring back to the July meeting.
5. Wipes campaign
Discussion: Flushable and non-flushable wipes
continue to be an industry-wide, as well as a district wide problem. The committee
discussed beginning a community wide campaign at local festivals and fairs, as
well as out in the general public. Most of the discussion centered on the Cityhood
Celebration event and what to display to help educate the public.
Action: No action taken.
